To give you a break from the penguins, here are some observations:
Summer solstice in a few days. Sun only gets 24 degrees above the horizon. You can read outside 24/7
Antartica’s circumpolar ocean current prevents the mixing of the waters from the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans.
Winds over the continent can reach 200 miles an hour. The friction from this speed can actually heats up the land.
It is the driest continent and highest continent ( highest average height)
Has 70 % of worlds fresh water
Ice averages 1.5 miles thick
40 % of west Antartica lost in last 20 years.
Now back to some penguins.
Nice of Viking to bake us Challah. They had an un hosted Shabbat. David and I and one other couple went down to the room where there was wine and a really decent challah . We hadn’t seen the other couple before and they seemed very nice.
