Stone Quarry Hill Art Park

Today's Jaunt was to the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia.  A friend of Melanie's had mentioned it and it looked like something fun.  After stopping at the farmer's market in Cazenovia for Pies and Peaches we found the park spread out over 104 acres and 4 miles of trails.

We didn't do too many miles but we did enjoy the walk.

 It was fun to come out of the woods and find the unexpected.

And Melanie would like to take this tree home for our new place (wherever that might be)

and no place would be complete without a library...

We didn't stay for the New Music Concert - one piece was to be played on a set of wind chimes built out of old wood organ pipes - and I hope it came off OK as it did start to rain shortly after we left.  Interesting place, with arts classes, concerts and other activities.

A great late lunch at Lincklaen House and then home in 30 minutes.  Wonder what else we're missing in the neighborhood?

Utah!

TAt long last we were able to visit the Utah contingent and play with the kids after much too long a break.  

Speaking of breaks, blogging has been a bit backed up.  Someday maybe we'll get Galapagos up as well - but in the meantime, the Provans  treated us like royalty.

Friday night we had a chance to visit and catch up and observe Michaela consume a 1/4 of a cow.

Next day they took us to the Olympic Ski Jump training ground

Were it is clear that we're not cut out for the bobsled event

But it was announced that they had a program for those interested in learning to do jumps.  After watching for a while, we decided to put such training on hold

They started us out watching some younger people - 7 and 10 years old.  Then they brought out the current "stars" including a couple of boys from Pittsford, some past and current Olympians and this guy who is "retired."

And then for the grand finale they all came down more or less at once

We had our first chance to enjoy Main Street in Park City,

where we enjoyed window shopping, the galleries and of course the Utah Staple: Pizza

Next day it was off to the Mountains:

Alex, Charlotte and David headed up the mountain on the lift with the crazy bikers.  Started off at 8,000 feet and then the lift took us up another 1300 feet.

Some great views of the forest as well as the bike trails (often with bikers flying through)

 Charlotte enjoyed the lift ride although didn't understand why the adults felt keeping an arm around her made sense

But once we were on the mountain she was all about exploring

 She was a little pooped

Until we got to the top where she declared: "This is my mountain!"

And then we got treated to a scene from "Frozen" - you are in danger!  Thank goodness Alex was there to explain it to me.

 Then it was down the mountain

 For Picnic time with Melanie, Sarah and Michaela

Air was a bit thin but the weather was perfect - mid 70's and slight breeze.  After a quick trip to a park 

and some fun play at home the trip came to an end all too soon.

We're back in Tully now.  Sigh, back to reality.

Return to the Falls

Time to actually start blogging again.   I've got some partial Galapagos postings started - someday I'll get them published.  But in the meantime let's try to stay current.

Had a fine Memorial Day Weekend trip to Niagara Falls with Josh, Laura, and Gabi -  There was some range of opinion as to what the highlights were.

For some it was the room:

And while some chose to rise to great heights

Others made new friends

 And then there was the real reason to go:

We did the walk behind the falls,

And enjoyed getting wet on the boat....

And despite Nana's fears we all dried out enough walking back to the car that we did not have to cross the border wearing nothing but underwear.

Off to Ecuador

After non eventful trip to Guayaquil, we arrived at our hotel around midnight, had the requisite "welcome" piña colada and hit the sack. Up again this morning just after 5 and we're heading out to our next flight to Puerto Baquerizo were we get to walk the Malecon (waterfront) in San Cristobal before boarding the ship.

Currently using wifi at the hotel. Will post again next time there is signal.
